2020-2021 School Year

Hello and welcome to the new school year!

This blog will not be used this year, as we have moved to a new platform.

Students will be using CTLS Learn for virtual learning.  More information about the platform and logging in can be found here – http://cobbcast.cobbk12.org  Student usernmames for CTLS Learn will be the student’s Office365 email address (all students of Cobb County have one), which is in the following format:  firstname.lastname@students.cobbk12.org

Passwords at Lovinggood have all been set to the students’ birthday in MMDDYYYY format.

Parent communication will be through another arm or branch of the same platform – CTLS Parent.  More information can be found here – https://cobbctls.com/ctls-parent/, then click on CTLS Parent.  Parent log ins should use the same credentials/information used to log in to Parentvue.

Last week of school!

And not even a full week!

Standards of Focus:

SSPFL1 Evaluate various sources of income and analyze variables that affect a person’s income.

SSPFL2 Describe how budgeting and actively reviewing finances can be used to allocate scarce income.

SSPFL3 Evaluate different methods for paying for goods and services.

SSPFL5 Describe the importance of credit and having a favorable credit score.

Tuesday

The credit card simulator game isn’t working correctly and I don’t want frustration in this last few days.  So, you can try the Financial Football game if you like.  It may be that after you do that one the Credit Card Simulator game will also work, but if it doesn’t, no worries.  This is just an opportunity for you to play some games that will help you learn more about personal money management. You do NOT have to sign up for the website to play the games, so if you can’t get any of them to work don’t worry about it. Games link

We will have our last meeting on Tuesday, 5/19, 1:00 – 2:00.  We’re going to be playing a game together during that meeting, and I know you’ll enjoy it.  I’ll post the link for it after the meeting, so you can play on your own.

Please email  me if you have any questions or concerns about grades.  I have to have all grades finalized by Tuesday morning, so after that, there’s nothing we can do.

Wow! I guess I’m just not ready for the year to end!

So, yeah…I keep talking about next Thursday and Friday, and school ends on Wednesday.  I just do not know what I was thinking!

Not a problem in any way!  So, let’s plan to meet on Tuesday, and we’ll play one of the games that I know you’ll like.  I will post links for both games after that meeting, and you can play on your own or not, whatever works for you.  But, I promise that the one we’ll play together in our meeting is one you will want to try.  So, if you can’t make the meeting on Tuesday, be sure to check out the link and give it a try.

😢 This means today is our last CNN10 Friday together.  You can watch CNN10 anytime you want, of course.  Just google CNN10.  They do shows Monday through Friday during the school year (and they don’t end when our school ends, though they will end at some point for the summer).

Have a great weekend!

May 15

Friday, 5/15

It’s our next to last CNN10 Friday 😲

CNN10 is only CNN9:26 this week.  I don’t have a question for you to answer, but I hope you get the 10 second trivia question correct!

One last reminder that everything you want to be graded needs to be turned in by 5pm today.

We’ll be playing some fun, but learning, games about personal money management next week One you’ll do on your own, and one we’ll do together.  Our meeting will be on Thursday, I hope a lot of you will be there!

Have a great weekend and remember that it doesn’t cost anything to be kind.  Especially now, everyone is dealing with different stresses, and everyone can use a little kindness and understanding. You are kind people, but it is easy to forget to be kind – try not to forget. ❤

End of Day, Thursday, 5/14

I will not take any new grades after the end of the day tomorrow.  So, 5 o’clock Friday, May 15 is the deadline for any grades you want included.  Next week, we will be doing some Personal Finance game activities.  We will have a meeting, on Thursday to play one of the games together.  You’ll enjoy this, so please join us.

Week of 5/12-5/14

Standards of focus:

SSPFL2 Describe how budgeting and actively reviewing finances can be used to allocate scarce income.

SSPFL5 Describe the importance of credit and having a favorable credit score.

Tuesday, May 12

Watch the personal finance video and complete the video organizer/form –Video and organizer assignment Complete these by Wednesday before our Teams Meeting at 1:30. (I can’t do Thursday, because I’m helping at school on Thursday with parents coming to get things from lockers).

Wednesday, May 13

Teams Meeting 1:30-2:00.  I will post the link on Wednesday morning.

Thursday, May 14

Watch BrainPop on Credit Cards.  Go to BrainPop. (If it asks you for login information, the username is: lovinggood, and the password is: pop), then complete the quiz, and send me a message (not a comment) on Edmodo to tell me what you scored on the quiz.  Be honest, because I will be able to double-check.

On another note, we still have many people who have not taken the Latin America Government and Economy quiz.

1st period – 14 people have not taken the quiz

2nd period – 7 people have not taken the quiz

3rd period – 8 people have not taken the quiz

4th period – 9 people have not taken the quiz

5th period – 12 people have not taken the quiz

I know there are lots of possible reasons people could not take the quiz, and I do understand.  But if you are able, please complete the quiz.  It is still available as an assignment in Teams. It will tell you that you are submitting it late, but there will be no points taken off because of that.  This is the most people who have not taken a quiz since we have been virtual learning.  I just want everyone to have a chance to take the quiz.
