Wednesday, 8/15

Today we talked about our expectations and hopes for Social Studies class this year, and continued work on Rectanguland.

Students who need to do corrections to the quiz:

  • Do NOT change any answers on the front of your quiz
  • On the back, copy the information from the questions you missed (so for the 5 Themes portion, you would write something like:
    • ___ 1. Tribes cut down trees to build shelters   – or for the Push and Pull Factors portion:
    • **give a correct example of a Push or a Pull factor***  ***Tell whether it is Push or Pull***
  • For the 5 Themes portion, write the letter of the CORRECT answer on the line.
  • For either section – below each corrected answer, write WHY that answer is correct.
  • For each question you correct correctly (sorry for the redundancy), you will receive half-credit – so, since this was a 10 question test, you will receive 5 points for each correct correction.  If you already received partial credit on something, you can still get half credit on the missed part.

Quiz corrections are due tomorrow

Homework – Only those who need to do quiz corrections have homework

Tuesday, 8/14

If you (or your family) are not happy with your grade on the 5 Themes of Geography quiz (the scores have been entered into Synergy – but I have not yet been able to return the quizzes as some students still need to take it), there WILL be an opportunity to make corrections and receive partial credit.  This does not typically happen for formative assessments (which is what a quiz is considered), but this one time, we will do it.

Today we watched a video – Weslandia – and began work on the Rectanguland mapping challenge.  We will complete this tomorrow.

Wednesday, 8/8

Today we explored 5 regions of Lovinggood.  Classes 1-3 completed a short writing assignment regarding these regions. (If you are in periods 1, 2, or 3, and you did NOT finish the assignment, you should finish it at home and turn it in tomorrow.  Remember that you are imagining that you are a leader of a people group and you are searching for a new place to settle.  Using complete sentences, tell me which (number) region you think would be best for your people, and explain why, using as many reasons as you can think of).  4th and 5th periods will write tomorrow.

Lovinggood Regions 2018-29xzbc2

We will finish our Cloze notes tomorrow as well.

No Homework
